Disclaimer: This is the one corner of my website where you see photography that isn’t mine. I’ve gathered photos from many sources that I follow and admire, to bring you a mood board full of inspiration and ways to make your session beautiful.
Coffee Shop
A beautiful spot for an engagement session would be a spacious coffee shop with big windows to let in the sunlight. Imagine a close-up photo of two hands cupped around a hot mocha, with the engagement ring sparkling on one finger.
Your Home
In-home sessions can be so cozy and intimate. This is the space where you feel most comfortable with your partner.
What if you don’t feel like taking photos in your space? Maybe you’re in the process of moving and things are super disorganized, or there just isn’t enough sunlight for photos. Have you considered booking an Airbnb for your session? It’s always an option to rent someone’s beautiful space and take photos there!
If you want to, you’re allowed to get a little more intimate for this session. Snuggle into each other’s arms on a comfy bed, or wear your coziest pajamas, make some coffee, and pretend it’s a sleepy Sunday morning.
Get Outside
If you love a gentle hike, maybe you’d like to have your photos taken in a woodsy area, with a gorgeous mountain view. You might even want to pack a picnic!
A body of water always makes a beautiful background for romantic photos. And we have so many lakes here in Ontario!
Anywhere else! As long as it’s under the sun, it’s a beautiful place to be. Is there a sandy hill near you? Or a vibrant orchard?
Rent a Studio Space
Do you want your photos to be more simplistic, with a few pops of color in the background but not too much busyness? A studio is a wonderful space to have more control over the look you’re going for, and to minimize the clutter.
Urban
It doesn’t always have to be nature! If you’re going for a neutral color palette, the city is a great place to take your session. Any brick or concrete wall can be a background for your engagement session.
